Couples Counseling

Using Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT); I will work to help my couple become aware of their negative cycle and the unmet attachment needs that feed the problematic behaviors that block connection. As your therapist I will be taking an active role in this process while remaining impartial between partners, my focus is on your interactions and the process, not on the particulars of who did what.

The EFT view of the distress in your relationship is that both partners play a role in creating the negative cycle that can result in fighting, building resentment, shutting down, communication issues, loss of sexual desire and the overall loss of connection. In working from the EFT model I believe that most of the issues that some would diagnose as depression, anxiety, Bi-Polar, Borderline or PTSD can be traced back to one or both partners being in attachment distress. Of course this is not always the case but more times than not solidifying the bond between partners can help relieve the symptoms of a variety of disorders including addiction.
