Meet Richard…

My first wife and I went to couples counseling for nearly a year and half, our marriage eventually failed. That failure lingered inside of me for some time and I often wondered if things could have been different if we would have found the right couples counselor. For years after that experience my curiosity about what made marriages work grew stronger. After more counseling and another failed marriage years later, I was sure that whatever skills or understanding that were required to make a marriage work was just not there for me. 

I made a mid-life decision to leave a lucrative occupation so that I could go back to school and pursue a new career. My former occupation did not give me the fulfillment and personal satisfaction that I was starting to crave. I discovered I had a longing to do something that had the potential to make a positive difference in the world, and I wanted that difference to have lasting effects on future generations. Counseling couples and families seemed to fit all of those requirements perfectly.

Becoming a therapist who could make a difference became my inspiration for learning the techniques that have been proven to have positive outcomes for thousands of marriages. A good marriage benefits that couple, their children, their extended family, future generations of that family, and their community.

I am now remarried to a wonderful woman, and can confidently say that I now have what it takes to allow this love to go the distance.
